General Information · African-American man - - born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, U.S. October 14, 1973 - died May 25, 2020 - grew up in Houston, Texas - was a truck driver and security guard - had 5 children Death Horesta POLICE NEAPOLIS - the police were called in May 2020 because Floyd was using a forged 20 euro note - he was handcuffed - the two other officers held Floyd back and one made sure that no spectators interfered - Floyd said ,,I can't breathe" George Floyd Derek Chauvin, a white cop, killed him - he pressed him his knee to his neck for 9 minutes while he was with his face on the street - wrongful death lawsuit, amount of $27 million - Chauvin was sentenced to 22,5 years in prison - the trial against the other three officials will take place in 2022 What happened next? - worldwide protests against black suspects - lots of memorial services - mural in honor of Floyd - donations for his funeral - May 25th is George Floyd Jr Day CAN'T BREATHE #GEORGEFLOYD #ICANT BREATHE #SAYHISNAME SENECTED HER Personal Life - was very good in football and basketball - attended South Florida Community College for 2 years, had a football scholarship and played on the basketball team - convicted of eight crimes, served four years in prison - after his release, he was an honorable member of the church - posted anti-violence videos to social media - became a rapper „Big Floyd" - appeals...
