The business sucess fails and his work overwhelms him. • Willy unexpectedly comes home in the evening • He feels pressured by the tall apartment blocks that surround the house •Adult sons Biff and Happy are visiting and sleeping Willy is unwell and worried about his state of mind • Linda lovingly takes care and encourages him Willy is worried about his son Biff because of his job at the farm 1/11 Present: Biff and Happy exchange each others thoughts. Both are unsatisfied with their mediocrity and dream of a better future. Willy talks to himself → meanwhile: Bift and Happy talk in their room • Bift is not happy about his low earnings and sees himself as a failure ↳ fantasizes about borrowing money and buying a farm. Happy is more successful and works in a shop ↳ Despite this, he is lonely and unsatisfied ↳ He often acts immoral and is ashamed of it V/M Memory: Willy teaches his sons that a successful life depends on popularity. There he made his way through the jungle and made money with diamond mines Their father, whom Willy hardly remembers, was a great and heroic man • Willy claims to raise his sons with the same spirit • In the meantime, Willy has sent Bift and Happy to a construction site to steal material Ben says goodbye, although Willy begs him to stay • 1/1X Present: Linda informs her sons of Willy's misery and talks about his failed suicide attempts. • Willy talks to himself in front of the house. • Unda, Bift and Happy are in the kitchen → linda blames the ongoing arguments with Biff for Willy's confusion She calls her sons ungrateful • She talks about Willy's professional misery and her financial difficulties Biff admits that he cannot get his life under control → but he is ready to move back home and do his part to support the family •Linda fears further fights between Biff and willy • she talks about her concern for Willy: He has already attempted suicide several times, including deliberately caused car accidents 1/X Present: Biff and Happy talk about a business idea and the family indulges in success fantasies. Willy enters the house and an argument between him and Bift breaks out immediatly Bift proposed to open a sports shop and the mood changes •the family immediatly begins to lose themselves in fantasies together with Happy, the business should be a great success •The next day, Biff wants to ask businessman Bill Oliver for a loan He used to work for him until he was fired for theft After another argument with Biff before going to bed, Willy thinks about Biff's sporting successes at school . 11/1 Present: Willy builds new courage to live and has plans for the future. • next morning → willy is rested. • Despite debts and financial worries, he is optimistic about the future His confidence and excitement carries over to linda • in the evening, Bift and Happy want to invite their father to dinner in a restaurant 11/11 Present: Willy loses his job. • Willy goes to his boss Howard Wagner → Willy can no longer travel and wants to work in the office in New York Howard's father would have promised him that long ago • Willy is not heard and is dismissed without notice 11/111 Memory: Willy sees Ben and Ben tries to get willy to live in Alaska • Ben offers Willy a job in Alaska • Willy wants to accept, but linda stops him. • He repeats that the only thing that matters is being popular with that you can live the American Dream and get rich 11/IV Memory: Willy wants his son Bift to win the baseball game.
