How hard is it to pay attention? рау 4) The blog post "How hard is it to attention?" was written by Murray Rosenbaum and deals with the concentration problem caused by the internet and its solutions. Rosenbaum gives an example to demonstrate that the most programs that restrict access to the internet don't work because of many mistakes in their programming. She draws the reader's attention to her text by addressing him right at the beginning with the rhetorical question "Everyone reading this can relate, ready?" (1.1). By using the metaphor "You wallow in self-pity. [.]" (1.6) the author shows how extreme your behaviour is able to change. That makes the text interesting to read. To establish a relationship to her audience, Murray uses personal pronouns, for example "your", "you're "(1.1) or "I have been experienced [...]" (1.38) so the reader feels personally addressed. She also utilizes irony to underline that the conversations are mostly just a distraction during studying or working "important conversation " (1.8). All these linguistic tools make the context sound natural and understandable. In summary, the author uses many rhetorical devices, such as direct address, inclusive pronouns, and personifications, to build confidence and solidarity among her listeners. 5) Many people think that programmes that restrict access to the internet can help to stay focused and not to be distracted...

by social networks. But is that really true? Murray Rosenbaum dealt with this topic in june 2013. Theoretically, such programmes could bring about concentration if they wouldn't have anly mistakes. For example, social media sites would be blocked and people wouldn't be able to explore the internet. But, as Murray describes, these programmes are usually bugged. The author gives an example that happened to herself: She accidentally locked herself out of the internet for 48 hours. in my opinion, using applications that block access to the internet for a certain time is not completely useless. If you set up the program correctly and know how to use it, it can really help you to get ahead on homework or learning for tests, for example. For this reason, I only partially agree with author on the point that these programmes are pointless. However, I have to agree with Murray that it's difficult these days to focus completely on what you have to do. Some apps and websites have certain technologies that make it almost impossible to ignore them and leave the internet turned off. You always feel like you might miss something important while you're working or studying.
