Environmental problems - Definitions: What is ....? Climate change Climate change is a change of Earth's climate. It could be a change of the regions where rain and snow usually fall, or a change of Earth's usual temperature. It can be caused by the change of Earth's distance from the sun, but also by humans due to the use of energy by burning oil which puts gases into the air that heat it up. Global warming Global warming means the increasing of the global temperature. It is caused by CO2 and greenhouse gases collect into the air and absorb sunlight, the heat that results to that gets trapped and causes the planet to get hotter. Consequences of global warming are melting glaciers, rising sea levels and wildfires in dry forests but there are also many other consequences. Deforestation Humans remove/clean large areas of forest lands to make it available for other uses. Deforestation represents one of the largest issues of global land use. Estimates of deforestation traditionally are based on the area of forest cleared for human use, including removal of the trees for wood products, croplands and grazing lands. In practice of clearcutting, all the trees are removed from the land which completely destroys the forest and leads many species to become extinct. Desertification A type of land degradation of drylands in which biological productivity is lost due to natural processes or induced...

by human activities and because of that fertile areas become arid. It is caused by overusing of the land and the cutting of too many trees. Overpopulation Overpopulation is an undesirable condition where the number of human populations is increasing and exceeds the actual carrying opacity of Earth. Overpopulation is caused by many factors: Reduced mortality rate, better medical facilities or depletion of precious resources. Fossil fuels Any of a class of hydrocarbon-containing of biological origin occurring within Earth's crust that can be used as a source of energy. Fossil fuels include coal, petroleum, natural gas and oil. All contain carbon and were formed as a result of geologic processes. Nuclear waste/Radioactive waste Radioactive by-products resulting from fusion, fission and refinement of processing of radioactive materials. This includes all solid and liquid radioactive Mastes. Sperbereich Vorsicht Strahlung Waste Waste or garbage should be understood as referring to the residues produced during the preparation or production of solid objects, including liquid and gas in containers. Chemical residue is also called waste. E-waste Electronic waste should be understood to mean that electronic and electrical equipment or its components are no longer used because they no longer perform their expected functions or have been replaced by better equipment. E-waste can be divided into different categories. Water pollution Water pollution or water pollution refer to the pollution of water and groundwater with some toxic substances. Water pollution, that is, deliberate and illegal pollution of water, is a criminal offence. Air pollution Air pollution is the term used to describe the release into the air of pollutants that are harmful to the environment and health. These pollutants include, for example, smoke, soot, rface dust, exhaust gases, aerosols, vapors and fragrances. Air pollution is a form of pollution. Factory farming Factory farming is a system that uses high- intensity methods to raise livestock. Through this method, poultry, pigs, or cattle are restricted to strictly controlled indoor conditions. Food miles Food mileage refers to the miles traveled by food from the producer to the consumer, as a unit of measurement of fuel used for transportation. Depletion of the ozone layer According to a report by the Alfred Wegener Institute, the ozone hole is a strong thinning of the ozone layer, which was first observed in Antarctica in early 1985 in early 2020.
