Letter to the editor - American Dream

From: Name To: Editor Subject: My Opinion Dear Editor, I want to share my opinion about your article with you. In my opinion there are several reasons why the American Dream is an outdated concept. For example, many Americans have problems when they retire because many companies pay little or nothing to their former employees. In my eyes, this is absolutely unacceptable because the people affected have worked all their lives and the ignorance of the corporations often leaves them with no choice but to go back to work despite their retirement. They take jobs they are over-qualified for, just so they can earn a little extra money. But the worst is yet to come: the American health system is frightening. Maybe you could argue, that anyone who wanted to can complete an health insurance and theoretically that is true, but in practice a majority of the people affected do not have the means to do something like this and, if they should actually get sick, are not supported by the state but simply left to themselves. Sure, some people have reached the American Dream, but that is such a tiny percentage that you wouldn't even notice it.
