When working with monkeys, he found out that certain needs were more important for them than others. In 1943, on the basis of his observations, he published a paper entitled A Theory of Human Motivation in which he outlined his theory of a "Hierarchy of Needs". He identified five different needs that he regarded as being fundamental for human beings wanting to exploit their full potential. Those needs can be divided into two different groups: on the one hand, the so- called 'survival' or 'deficit' needs which stem from a lack of something and which need to be satisfied if negative feelings are to be avoided. On the other hand are the being-needs which stem from a desire to grow as a person and are therefore also called growth needs. According to Maslow, humans need a sense of belonging as soon as physiological and safety needs are fulfilled. of accomplishment Belongingness and love needs: intimate relationships, friends Safety needs: security, safety Physiological needs: food, water, warmth, rest - only a theoretical concept-> hard to transfer this to reality because there are many factors that aren't included in his hirachy of needs the so called growth needs - I agree with Maslows hierachie of needs because it works in theory and is able to explain human behaviour e. g. in context with sense of belonging or the need of self-fulfilment and to always achieve one's Full potential. Self-fufillment needs Psychological needs Basic needs
