Shakespearean sonnets [73-94-16 Consits on 14 Lines (just Shakespearean sonnets) 2nd singular may +st means "you"," => It was typical for Shakespearean language time 3rd singular fade +th means "it" Structure → first 12 Lines always a cross rhyme (ababcd cdefef) Last 2 lines always a couple rhyme (gg) → three quatrain (abab; calcd; efef) one couplet (gg) always ten syllables; Zehn Silben Sonnet is a form of a poem, likely like a 4 Gedicht" → → stressed / unstressed syllables; betonte / unbetonte → each line has five unstressed and stressed syllables = pentameter (5x) and stands for the heartbeat (0/0/0/0/01 → iambic → Jambus U/ ALWAYS IN SHAKESPEARE trochaic -> Trochäus /U - NOT relevant for Shakespeare Analysing the structure of a sonnet Donnerstag, 19. November 2020 20:32 The sonnet 73 contains 14 lines and is divided into three quatrains followed by one couplet. There are two cross rhymes in each quatrains and one couple rhyme in the couplet. However, in some cases the rhyme scheme does not seem to work. As you can see in sonnet 116, II.13-14 the words "proved" does not rhyme with the word "loved". These words does not fit as a couple rhyme because the pronouncing from shakespearean language/time and the modern english is quitely different.
