Chapter thirteen Laurie walks to Amy to talk with her about the wave and in addition why David break up the relationship to her. She arrives and hear a loud voice called, Stop"!. It was Brian who whants that Laurie do the the wave" -salute. But Laurie did not want to do this. Brian said she have to do the salute otherwise she can't go up. In the afternoon Laurie and some of the Grapevine turn the living room from the saunders a newsroom. They put together a special edition of the paper devoted almost entirely to "The wave" After a few hours the paper is finished and it includes the story by the anonymous junior and a report on the sophomore.
