BLACK LIVES MATTER 20 WHAT IS BLACK LIVES MATTER? Black Lives Matter is a international movement. The people who support Black Lives Matter fight or demonstrate. against violence against people of color (especially the violence by police officers) and against racism. The movement I went viral in the internet especially under the hashtaq #BlackLives Matter. It all started in 2013. WHEN DID IT START AND BY WHO? The Black Lives Matter movement arised on the 13th of july in 2013. The founders are Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi. They were inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Power Movement, the Black Feminism Movement, the Anti Apartheid Movement, the lesbian and gay movement and the Occupy Wall Street. They asked, how to react to the reason why the movement started so Garza wrote on Facebook "Our Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter." Cullors responded with " #Black Lives Matter". and SO, WHAT'S THE REASON WHY IT STARTED? In 2012 George Zimmerman killed the teenager Trayvon Martin. He was colored. In 2013 George Zimmerman got acquit - ted and a lot of people couldn'd understand They couldn't understand . why colored people should be less.
