, because he is able to afford such things. extract. (cf. Extract 1.ll. 15-16) "1 Obinze has a big family and lots of social connections. He lives in his big house with his wife, Kosi, his two-year old daughter Buchi, a nanny, his wife's sister and the housegirl. (cf. Extract 2, ll. U-a). He also seems a good relationship to his driver Gabriel because they both can joke around. (Extract 1. ll. 53-56) Obinze also is in contact with his previous girlfriend from university whom he stresses about in the first to have In relation to the social and family aspects, there is a deeper interpretation of the relationship of Obinze and kosi. It becomes clear, that Obinze and his wife do not have an upright connection with each other. It seems like Kosi only wants his money (cf. extract 2, ll. 65ff). Their relationship is pretty distanced because she doesn't ast deeper questions about him. and they rarely talk. (cf. extract 2, l. 53;ll GSFF) Kosi also wasn't listed when the members of the house were listed which also creates the distance between the married couple. His mood variates a little bit throughout the two extracts from being bored, unwell, annoyed, irretated and happy. His boredom and his unwell feeling for his life are expressed with "... to feel bloated from all he had acquired..." (Extract 2. ll. 19-20) This implies that Obinze feels restricted and tightend in his own life by his material wins and his family. He also seems annoyed and irretated by the fact, that his ex girlfriend is in a relationship with another man. (cf. Extract 1. ll. 22-23) Still he acts happy around his daughter and enjoys his time with her. (cf. Extract 2, ll. 4₁- uu) Throughout the two extracts we get a good sense for Obinzes character traits. He is a very generous and kind-hearted person who likes to help others. Obinze rolled down the window and held out a hundred - naira note..."(extract 1, ll. 45-55) Obinze also has some jealos and overthinking traits. ". He hated it so much that he Googled the ... "(Extract 1. ll. 23-24) And even though the relationship with his wife may not be the best, he still wants to please her. (cf. Extract 2 1.52) It can also be seen that Obinze is characterized with uncertainity due to the overthinking." He was no longer sure..." (Extract 2, ll 22-25) To summerize the character, Obinze, up it is clear that Obinze has an inner conflict with himself. He knows that he achieved everything people want but still feels unwell about his life and his decisions. Still, he is a caring and kind-hearted man.
