Each line, expected from the seventh, includes ten syllables and is composed in an iambic pentameter. That means that an unstressed syllable is followed by a stressed syllable, as you can see in all lines of this sonnet. It is all about love that is why the iambic pentameter is used, it reproduces the heartbeat rhythmically which is the symbol of love. Shakespeare structured his arguments in different parts that also belongs to the divided quatrains and couplets. He starts his argumentation upon love with arguments about what love is not and goes on with arguments about what love is. In the further course it is repeated alternately. The first quatrain deals with the topic, what love is not and that is also why he uses the word "not" very often (II.1,2). Not to emphasize how bad love is, but to give a contrast about what love should be on the opposite. The metaphor in the beginning of the first quatrain underlines Shakespeare's understanding of love very well. He thinks, that mental love counts a lot more than physical love and mentions that being in love mentally will never take an end (1.1). That is why the "true minds" are compared to two people loving and complementing each other mentally. He uses one alliteration in the same quatrain to explain that circumstances or physical changes like growing old will never influence the love to each other (1.3) Besides that alliteration, there is another one that is addressed in the sonnet. It shows that Shakespeare's love consists for ever, even if there would be a chance to "remove" the love with a "remover", nothing would change about his love to somebody (1.4). The second quatrain that follows is filled with with many arguments about what love is and should be. In this quatrain he also starts with a metaphor that stands for a lighthouse that guides you through your life. In this content the lighthouse that guides you stands for the person you love. This person is the lighthouse, that guides you through all parts of your life (1.5 "ever-fixed-mark). Another used metaphor underlines the fact, that love consists in any way, mostly to encourage yourself. However. You will always keep that one person you love deep into your heart (1.7). In the following quatrain Shakespeare wrote down, that "love's not Times fool" (1.9). That means, that there is no wrong time to love somebody and no way to call somebody you love an idiot, just because they cheated on you. To Shakespeare it is important to fix the obstacle by talking and discussing about it, but not by divorce or breaking up. This statement clearly underlines his eternal and permanent love and that nothing can stop him from loving somebody. If the person you love dies, Shakespeare's love still goes on because love is love and it does never change - love is unconditional and eternal (II.11-12) In the couplet (II.13-14) it gets obvious that Shakespeare is very overwhelmed with his understanding of love. That is why he criticize everyone / every man, who criticizes his understanding of love, because he believes that nobody who criticizes his interpretation of love did ever love truly. To conclude, the structure of his argumentation, the choice of words and stylistic devices are very effective and clearly underline Shakespeare's stance towards the topic love. He definitely believes that there is no way to end loving somebody because to him love is eternal and unchangeable. To him it does not matter, if the person does a betrayal on him or dies. His understanding of love is, that love will never end - no matter what happens. That is why it is an interesting question if love is nowadays unchangeable too or if our understanding of love did change. Does our generation agree with his point of view or is love changeable nowadays? On the one hand I would not say that love is unchangeable because there are too many things that can happen through the years of a partnership, but on the other hand I believe that permanent love exist. One example for that would be, that circumstances like a long distance relationship could bring obstacles like your partner feels unloved or disrespected and instead of talking to each other to solve the problem, you will go on many discussions with many disagreements and in the worst case the romance and so love between both of you could end. That would be one point, to show that love is changeable. Let us stay in the long distance relationship. Another big point to break up or get divorced nowadays is on getting cheated. He/She did a betrayal on you, because the person is dissatisfied with your current situation that holds on for many months. Because of the romance that ends and the love that breaks because of fights, the person does not feel like talking is helping anymore. The person gets unhappy, dissatisfied and all the positive feelings that comes with loving somebody, also goes with that somebody. The last big point of changeable love contains the death of that person. Since the person is dead, it can be really hard and I do not know if the person that is alive would ever love somebody that much as the person who dies but within time you learn to handle the situation and you are going to focus on yourself again and to that point, where you open up your heart for another person, your love to the person who died is getting smaller and smaller. Nevertheless the love you had to them would never be the same like the next person you love but to love twice or is possible, mostly if the person is still young. But in my opinion, in some ways love can be eternal, not unchangeable but permanent. Of course love is changing after a few years, but it does not change on the eternal love to somebody. Maybe it would not be your first or second love, that is going to be eternal and permanent, but I believe, that there is always only one person that is predetermined to somebody. It takes time to find that person, maybe you have to make mistakes with others to grow out of it and do it better next time, for the person that will stay permanent with you. If both of you share a common view on important parts like cheating, lying, loving and trusting, there will not be a lack in a long distance relationship. If both of you know how the others view is, you are not going to build issues, you will not feel unloved or unrespected - because if you do, you are giving all of your attention to the wrong person. That is why I think, that long distance relationships can absolutely work if you believe in each other and mostly in yourself. People have to keep in mind that there is no distance between two loving hearts, just between two bodies and when the level of affection and love is most of the time at the same level, the partner is not going to be unhappy and they not think about being happy with someone else. Summing up it can be said that love is changeable if two person are not working and trying with and for each other. These relationships/marriages are going to fall apart one day because nowadays many people that are in a relationship/marriage did not think that a change could be possible. These people just give up on each other, on their love, that is why there is never a romance or love that starts again. Of course the love is not the same after years but that does not mean that you do not love each other anymore. You are just used to it, that this one person is always there and sometimes it needs to come to an uncomfortable fight, not because of hating each other, but to find each others love and affection again. Love is just permanent and unchangeable if you can take your egoism beside your bond, fix problems and start love and romance all over again. This is the only way to make love permanent and eternal.
