Huhu ihr lieben Dies ist meine Charakterisierung zu Karen. Ich hoffe es hilft euch🙋🏼♀️
Characterisation Karen from “Locker 160” The short story "Locker 160" written by Lee Busselmann, deals with two friends called Karen and Julie, who bully their classmates Miriam by playing tricks on her. The story is written in the first person point of view of Karen as the narrator. She is a normal high school student who is obvious bored. That shows that she gets the idea to put Miriam a hate note into her locker, as she waits with Julie for biology class to begin ( 1.3) . Apparently Karen did something like that more than once, because Julie says "Another one of your great ideas Karen ?" (L.4) Karen is an impulsive girl, its her idea to put the hate note into Miriams locker, so she makes things happen. She hates her not so much that she could not say "Good morning" (I. 8) or "See you tomorrow" (1.8), she just do not likes her and she sees her different as other girls in the high school or in her class (1.9). Particulary she does not like her because she writes poetry and Karen sees her from a different point of view (1.12). She is jealous of Miriam because Miriam is a pretty girl with long black hair and a good figure (I.10ff.)....

Karen is the one who writes the note “You stink” (1.19) but gives it to Julie that she puts the note into the locker, so that Karen is not the only one who is responsible for their prank (1.20f.). But later Karen does it too because Julie does not want to do it (1.22f.) She does not have compassion or any feelings for Miriam and just wants to bully her and have fun to prank her. That shows that she has not much confidence and she wants to feel better by having a victim for her pranks. After putting the note in her locker she is relieved and does not show any remorse, she seems to be heartless and mean (1.39) and just laughs and does not care about what she did. As she sees Miriams face expression she and Julie makes fun of her and did another prank at the next day with a voodoo doll that looks like Miriam, who is made of carrots and onions. It was the same play and both girls have a lot of fun again. They did an third prank at Miriam but this one Karen regretted the prank. Miriam tried to kill herself. Karen feels guilty and is shocked (1.70ff.). She did not see it coming and I think she will never do that again. It is pretty clear that she is scared to be arrested or to tell her parents everything so that she gets punishments. She regrets her whole pranks and ideas, because she is the reason that Miriam almost is dead. I think she will think about the consequences in the future and that it is a mistake for her life from which she learns to become a better person who takes responsibility for her mistakes.
