At the beginning of the story the two protagonists Karen (speaker) and Julie are determined to bully their classmate Miriam, who is introverted and seems to be a loner. They begin by putting evil notes in her locker (number 160) and find Miriam's reaction entertaining. The two girls up the game by putting marbles in her locker, which then tipped over and covered the entire hallway and then they craft a voodoo doll and also put in her locker. But because the girls enjoy the victim's reaction they do not recognise the pain they cause. The last time they a petition in Miriam's locker saying that she is weird and hated by all her classmates, under which they falsify their classmates signatures. In biology class they wait for Miriam to witness her reaction but she does not show up. Later they find out that Miriam tried to commit suicide. They do not feel any guilt, do not even realise they had a role in this but joke about her.
